Apple Threatens To Sue Guy For Selling Their Broken Junk

The $10,000 glass stairs at Apple’s 5th Ave store in NYC broke and an Apple store employee asked workers if he could take it.

The workers helped the man load the 250 pound stair into his car and he drove away. A few weeks later he listed the staircase on Ebay with a starting price of $200 and apparently Apple didn’t appreciate the listing.

Once the story broke Apple and the company Seele who made the step for the staircase threatened to sue him for “thousands of dollars in legal fees” if he didn’t immediately remove the auction and return the stair. At first the employee pulled the auction, but now he’s re-listing the stair since after some thought he realized he didn’t do anything wrong.

The VP of Seele disagrees and says that since the man was an employee of the store his request to keep the stair was a direct order to give it to him, which is possibly the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

The auction hopes to fetch $2,500, which might just cover a few of the legal fees that could ensue.
